A summary of the Inter-Club Quiz Night on Tuesday 8th February

After much cajoling and effort by the Social Secretary Margaret Sims the inaugural InterClub Quiz was underway. Clubs represented were Prescot Eagle, Liverpool Century, 2 from Southport and a composite team. Teams were split up into 5 members each. Bob Plevin provided the questions, which started with a 25 photo sheet to guess the cyclists, pretty difficult as some were from way back, followed by 40 questions which covered general knowledge and cycling.

During the competition banter was in abundance as most of the competitors were deaf and could be heard answering the questions out loud...not supposed to do that. During the evening wine and beer was served with a buffet provided, which all added to the ambience. At the conclusion as is usual the 'cream' comes to the top and the winners were the team aptly named.... FOUNTAIN OF KNOWLEDGE which comprised Colin Baldwin, Pete Gawthorne, Malcolm Heathcote, Jamie Clarke[overseas rider of the year 2009] and the club president Mr.Broo Rimmer... who were presented with a bottle of vintage wine each!!!

A good time was had by all and it is hoped the ocassion will be repeated in the future. Once again a big thanks to Margaret and Arthur for promoting the night. Colin Baldwin
