The riders were split into 4 groups based on ability. There were coaching sessions on the track for each group and also off track activities using four different skills:

  1. A power output test using a WATT bike for a 250M sprint
  2. Sumo - 18 riders in a group ride in ever decreasing circles - if you put your foot down you are out!
  3. A 500M roller race
  4. Limbo - how low can you go on the bike under a pole

Declan Lynch-Bolger had the best watts output in group one and Charlie Roberts had the second best time in the 500m Roller race in group one.

The day out was a fun cycling day which all the riders enjoyed. The hire of bikes and shoes was free and lunch was provided. A £5.00 donation from each rider went to the Eastlands Club.

Dear coaches and volunteering adults and teenagers,

Thanks for offering to help on our event on the 27th As you know this event is the first of its kind and I am proud to say Eastlands leads the way forward for others to follow. The goals for us as coaches and adults is to facilitate an opportunity for young teenagers to become involved in a major event and take as much a controlling role as possible with the help and support of us. We are here to support, help and encourage the development of our teenagers I have put together and enclosed the session plans for the day (see attachments ) these plans will be good for our level 1 coaches to work through The track is only a part of the many activities we have on offer on the day We have 70 + riders taking part, coming from all over England and Wales with abilities from novice group1 to very experienced track racers in group 4 In line with our event and grant outcomes we have youth sprint champions Matt Rotherham and Jessica Crampton to be our professional riders for the day and they will demonstrate / lead and help with feedback we have a large number of teenagers and some level 1 coaches volunteering and some will be doing tasks like: Sign on- taking money- results - videoing - catering - watt bikes- roller racing - tea stall - coaching - rider feedback -commentator - coordinator - timing -sumo
