Vincent Takes a Tumble

On Saturday 13th July the club run from the bus stop attracted 24 riders, all out to enjoy the warm sunny weather, the destination was Rivington. As the the number of riders in the peloton was a hazard to other road users, as on previous occasions it was decided to split the group into an A and B group... Eventually we all met up at the Barn cafe in Rivington..

However, on the return journey having passed through Adlington towards Jolly Tar Lane, Vincent Kelly somersaulted over his handlebars and landed on the opposite carriageway, the reason is still unknown(possible sudden braking by himself), the remainder of the group stopped immediately to render assistance...

Vincent landed heavily on the Tarmac and was knocked unconscious and was bleeding from his face...an ambulance was called for and arrived soon after which conveyed him to Wigan Infirmary, from where he was discharged later in the day with 7 stitches over his eye and cheek.

There is absolutely no doubt the wearing of a safety helmet prevented him from more serious head injuries!!! He is now recovering at home and hopes to be back on the bike within the next few weeks.

I have visited him at home today (18 July), he is heavily bruised to his shoulder and suffering with headaches..
