Something Fishy at the end of the season - Fleetwood Triathlon 23-09-12

The day after a bit of a warm-up in the Saturday afternoon sun at the Garstang 10 there was a chilly, but thankfully dry, start for the Fleetwood Sprint Triathlon (400m swim, 20k bike, 5k run).

Life is slightly harder on cold days for a triathlon - sometimes it is not entirely pleasant getting out of a pool, dripping wet, and leaping straight onto a bike. Fortunately, by the time the event started it had warmed to a balmy 9 degrees - just enough to not need any extra clothing. Unfortunately, my partner in crime Sue, was side-lined with a mixture of 'tennis elbow' and 'golf elbow' (induced by a mixture of squash and badminton!). I trudged through the swim in about 10 minutes, 35 minutes or so for the bike ride, and 20 for the run to finish with an overall time of 1:5:58 placing me 48th out of about 420 finishers.

Event winner was Tony Cullen from City of Chester Tri with 54:57. First veteran, and third overall was Andy Bray (Preston Wheelers) with 56:25.
