Circuit of Pendle Hilly Time Trial - Alfie's Arctic escapades

Sunday 10th March, round two of the early season hillies - this time the 27-mile Circuit of Pendle organized by the North Lancs RC.

On this occasion Southport's sole representative was mile-eating Alfie Shaw. The early miles of this circuit are a succession of lumps and bumps before reaching Blacko and heading fiercely uphill onto the moors. The northerly route going over such high ground so early in the season seems to be invariably plagued by strong winds and driving snow.

Alfie toughed it out to finish in 1:33:43.

Winner, by a clear 4 1/2 minutes from former Southport rider, John Findley, was the impressive Mark Holton of the Drag2zero team in 1:5:43.
