Southport CC in Paris for the Finale of the Tour de France

History in the making ! It was decided about 4 weeks prior to the start of the Grand Depart in Liege to take the plunge and book the flights for Paris to coincide with finish of the Tour de France (given wiggos results already) .

Arriving in Paris early on the Saturday morning we decided to see if it was possible to get to Chartres for the finish of the Time trial - it was ! The train from Paris got us there for 2.30pm an hour before Bradley started , leaving plenty of time for some liquid refreshment and watch the other riders finish . After seeing Brad win the stage it was back to Paris on the train (sleeping on the way) ready for a meal out to celebrate the triumph.

The next morning although a little hazy from the previous nights antics it was decided that the best plan was some carb loading. A bacon & egg McMuffin and a large coffee did the trick!!. After a short walk to a velib station we hired some bikes at the great expense of €1.70! For the day. After 3 hours of cycling around the sights of Paris one of the party Mark ,wearing a malliot jaune! & Neil and myself in Southport club jerseys attracting a lot of laughs and allez wiggo from on lookers.

Eventually we docked the bikes at another station near the Champs-Élysées, had lunch ,bought some beers and champagne and got involved in the great spectacle of the race and watch the Manx missile launched to the finish by the yellow jersey.

A great weekend was had by all. Au revoir mon ami.
