      1) To supply radio phones for use at events so Marshalls can contact HQ/ Organiser/ Time Keeper in event of an emergency.
      2) That warning signs for TTs are bought and displayed.
    3.  Proposed by Chris Truett, Seconded by Joe Croughan

I would like to propose that all members of the club, wear a cycling a helmet when riding with the club at all times.

Why? Even though it is not law, I think as a club we should be setting a good example to the Public, children & adults alike. It seems to me that the number of club members falling off their bikes or crashing has gone up the past few years. There
have been three such incidents in the past fortnight. The most recent when a rider hit his head on the kerb with such force that his helmet cracked .The consequences of not wearing one on this occasion would have been very serious.
It is  also the case that when people do fall off, the first thing the public or Police say is  “was he or she wearing his Helmet”

      (
Note  Club Rule 13.The wearing of safety helmets which are manufactured to an approved standard is recommended. Members 16 years and under must wear an approved helmet.
    4. Proposed by Peter Gawthorne, Seconded by Mark Baldwin

Based on discussion with members on recent rides, I think it is time to have a revamp of the Club's website. The current site, although an improvement on what we had previously, is not regarded as the  " best shop window" for Southport Cycling Club. It is functional rather than inviting or exciting and does not compare well with examples from other local clubs.  We believe that the website and it's content is a key marketing tool to attract new members who are looking to get into cycling, as most people tend to look at websites to research all things these days, again, it is imperative that it is inviting, interesting and user friendly.
The website would undoubtedly be used more frequently by current members if it was more interactive and slick by design. For example, on the home page, up to date photos of recent rides (and future rides) should be able to be posted (via the master user) along with a 'live news & twitter feed' whereby new information can be posted to provide members (new and existing) the chance to see what is happening on a day to day basis.  Perhaps a forum column could be added to invite new ideas and suggestions i.e. new clubs runs routes, additional rides in the Lake District, North Wales and annual trips to the Isle of Man, Ireland, Mallorca etc etc
Moreover, a direct link to Facebook should also be present as more people use the site than don't (c1 billion users) have an account and would be used for photos for members (past and present in the UK and overseas) who can see what is going on and with options to post photos / videos / and status updates for all members to see. We believe this is crucial for the younger / new riders looking to join / get in involved, as social media is at the forefront of all business's / lifestyles / products in the modern world in which we live in and should be used in a positive way to promote the sport and the club. This would also encourage interaction amongst members and provide an enhanced social / friendlier aspect to the club which is what we are looking for. I am sure that amongst the many members of the club we have the expertise to make the necessary improvements needed and if we don't, then the investment of a few hundred pounds to a specialist company could achieve the desired effect.
A rough trawl of some other clubs sites including our friends in Mons Belgium shows where improvements might be made. I propose that we take the best from each of the these and other examples and give the website a major overhaul to benefit both new and existing members.
