The Final Result of Joe's Charity Ride
I would like to thank everyone again who donated to my Scotland charity ride and particularly to Steve Ginty who as we know jumped in at very short notice to complete the ride on my / everyone's behalf. We raised an unbelievable £1000 !!! I have now formally closed the web site for donations.( If you would like to see the complete details just click on to the fund raising web site ) http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/JoeCroughanI am very glad to say I had my prostate related operation 4 weeks ago, and am firing correctly on all cylinders again only downside is 8 weeks off the bike, but I count myself very lucky it could so easily been a lot worse.Kindest regards againJoe Croughan
Steve Ginty completes Joe's Charity Ride
Joe writes: Steve Ginty from Southport Cycling Club filled my place at very short notice.
He had a very tough windy ride through the Scottish borders, after going out the house at 3.30 am to be at Pebbles start at 7.00 am to start the ride he took 7 hours to complete, then drove back to Southport and caught a flight at Liverpool airport at 5.45 am the next day.
I wasn't expecting anything like the amazing response I received from the very first donation (thanks Louise Ellson) at 7.20 am).
To over £800 pounds and still counting
It was amazing as each donation came in the nocturnal habits of some of my friends, people addressing their computer sometimes three or four ok clock in the morning?? to send in donations, I hope they all got back to sleep

Subject: Joe Croughan's charity ride
Can you put this appeal on our web site please
I am doing a charity ride for Prostate Cancer on September 4th it is a lumpy 170 km's ride through the Scottish borders, it is the same route as the tour of Britain which starts a few days later. I am doing this first to support a very close, life long friend of mine (in fact my best man) who is struggling with this awful cancer and after going to my second funeral this year caused directly by Prostate cancer! I realized I personally know seven men who are all afflicted to a greater or lesser extent with this cancer, which is a very sobering thought.
I hate having to go round asking people for their hard earned cash, but I would ask everyone in the club to consider supporting this worth while cancer charity who help so many needy people. Thanks in advance to everyone
